5:30am, arrival in Shinjuku, Tokyo on a night bus and this is the very first sight I see as I reach the capital. We stopped to let people off at Shinjuku for about 15 minutes, and the entire time this man was fully concentrated on sculpturing a kitchen out of cardboard boxes. I'm not sure what his story is, but he must miss home. I was extremely moved.

oh wow. if that's the first thing I'd saw id cry. I guess for those of us who love Japan so much we tend to forget that it's a real place with real problems and not just a fantasy world
